Ouch!
Reminds me of my walks home in Bradford on Avon, with lotsa snails and slugs, and trying to avoid hurting them in the dim light.
Wonderful haiku.
I wonder if you change the first line around to read:
shattered silence-
a snail underfoot
in the long grass
.
There does seem to be more about this year.
